The Steering Committee was established in May, 2021 as part of the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (UWSP) Legacy Population Health Partnership. The partnership is a function of collaboration between UWSP and the Legacy Foundation of Central Wisconsin for the purpose of creating an enduring community-academic partnership between UWSP and the Wisconsin Rapids Area dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the community (i.e., healthcare organizations, public health department, k-12 education, local government). The partnership facilitates efforts by UWSP, the Legacy Foundation, and other community organizations towards a coordinated approach to prioritizing and addressing population health within the Wisconsin Rapids Area (currently defined as zip codes 54457, 54469, 54475, 54489, 54494, and 54495). The Steering Committee has been regularly meeting since July, 2022.
